Today known as Berlenga island this group of 3 Islands- Berlenga, Estrelas
and Farilhões-Forcada - are situated 5.7 miles west of Cape Carvoeiro, near the
fishing village of Peniche.
The Berlenga island was called Dream island or island of Saturn by the ancient geographers.
Visited by vikings, arabs and british and french corsairs, today the Berlenga is a Natural
Reserve and home of several birds mainly seagulls......it as a small beach, a fishing village
a Lighthouse and a fortress....
