6/26/06 - Small Town Reflections

Wandering around in the Warrenton, Virginia, historic district (translation - buildings built in the early to mid-1800's). This is the reflection of the Fauquier County courthouse in the window of your stereotypical "olde towne" gift shop (floral arrangements in the shop window).
I used a few filters from the Nik Color Efex Pro package that I was recently given a copy of. I normally don't do any "extracuricular" processing beyond montages, but am curious to see what this Nik package has to offer. So far, I've found two that fit my style - Lighten/Darken Center & Vignette Blur - since I prefer images that keep the viewer's eye from trying to wander out of the frame. Using Lighten/Darken to provide a gradual transition from a lighter center to a darker edge helps achieve my goal and sure beats doing a lot of dodging & burning to accomplish the same thing. I used "Blur Vignette" to slightly blur the corners and edges for the same purpose (the eye goes to the area of greatest contrast and I'm trying to keep anywhere near the frame from being bright/sharp. (So far, that's 2 filters out of a total of 75 in the Nik set.)
