Coconut Beach and Volleyball Bring Sounds to West End

West End

Volleyball leagues have resumed play after a long hiatus following Katrina. All of the white sand was swept away in the tide along with the equipment. Once a thriving place with some 20 volleyball courts it is slowly returning to some semblance of order after tons of white sand were hauled in and money put into the rebuilding.
It is the only sound heard in the evenings at this now desolate part of Metairie-West End on the shore of Lake Pontchartrain.

It makes me sad, to think of how it was, but gives hope because it is being rebuilt.

I am so glad to see that coming back. I always enjoyed the volleyball games at west end. Your photo is great.
