Masticophis flagellum
These are not venomous but do not have the best temperament. Their preferred mode of defense is to move away from a threat, and they can do this very quickly. It is amazing how fast these can move considering they do not have any legs. This one was about 4 feet long, but this was the only shot I could get as is moved to the safety beneath a prickly pear cactus. Fortunately, there was an opening between the cactus pads allowing for this photo.
