For you underwater photographers this was an experiment that failed! I colored the flash bulbs red to compensate for the absorption of the red end of the visible spectrum in water, but it turned out to be much too much for the distances involved. Clear bulbs were the best choice. Today no one covers an electronic flash with a red filter. Live and learn.
