The First monument one encounters on the road from Amman is the triple-gated Hadrian's Arch,standing along some 450 meteres south of the city walls and built to commemorate the Emperor Hadrian's visit to Gerasa in 129 AD.

I remember reading about Hadrian when we studied Herodotus in school. It's awe inspiring to see it here in your gallery, just as Herodotus saw and wrote about it. The warm light adds beauty to the photograph.
