Very nice Colleen and I agree with everything that Martin said. This image is much more interesting than the original in the Demo folder. You've done a beautiful job with your processing.

Colleen, that's quite a radical change from the original, I have to say this processed version looks very rich in comparison, what I like about it is that it's more of a look at colors, textures, and patterns rather than just seeing it as a close look at a flower. Thanks for the pp info (I've used USM for those large radius contrast enhancements but I think I'll see how it looks using your smart sharpen method)... great work! :)

Thank you Martin! I posted the original photo in the demo gallery - the only editing was to downsize the file size. For the exhibition version, I used Photoshop CS2 and adjusted levels, highlights, gamma, offset, saturation, contrast (I think), and smart sharpened it 10% with a really big radius of 35%, then blurred it. I think it was the highlights manipulation that enhanced the grain.

Those are some beautiful colors Colleen! Did you add the grainy effect in post-process by chance? It's one thing that attracts me to this shot, the grain emphasises some texture but makes it more abtract/psychedelic at the same time... hard to explain but I enjoy looking at this image ;)

Nicely done, Colleen!! Good focus on the center and wonderful color.
