American Painted Lady Butterfly (Vanessa virginiensis) Butterfly a.k.a. "Hunter's Butterfly", or "Virginia Lady"
This species has large eyespots under, or hind wing.

The "Painted Lady" and the "West Coast Lady" have only small blue eyespots below.
The "Painted Lady" has white FW bar beyond cell in black area.
The "West Coast" Lady has an orange bar across black patch near FW wing tip.
