This orchid is always a thrill to find. They are frequently hidden amongst the tall grass.

Occurs: mountains, piedmont and coastal plain
Habitat: pine savannas and wet ditches in the coastal plain,
and in moist meadows and ridgetops under pines in the mountains
Uncommon in the state
