Here are some tips for you to take a better pic at night:
(1) use tripod to stablize your camera;
(2) turn off IS/VR/OS if your camera/lens has this function because it will blur your image if your camera is fixed on a tripod;
(3) use small aperture, e.g. f/8 or f/11 to have a large depth of view;
(4) take the picture at the magic hour to avoid total darkness at the sky;
(5) use gradual grey filter to balance the contrast between the sky and the foreground;
(6) to take at least 5 pics ranges from -2 EV to +2 EV and create an HDR image.
