How could I have missed this picture? What a wonderful use of color and noise -- it is a perfect example of how an extremely noisy image can speak volumes. In this case, the message is summed up perfectly by your title. Because of the circle of colored noise, we can almost feel the sun's heat. And the cactus, and Jeanine points out, serve as metaphorical fingers reaching in vain to stem the onslaught.
I really like the way you've abstracted this (these?) saguaro so we only see the essential elements in their life in the relentless sun. Almost like the fingers on a hand up to block the sun while someone says 'how much more can I take?'
