Collared Kingfisher (Todiramphus chloris)
Size : Average 25 cm. Kingfishers have a sheen to their plumage
and can be difficult to get the exposure correct to show this off
without blowing the highlights. Neverthelesss fill flash when used
enhances feather details and puts some catchlight in the eyes to
bring it all home.

This shot and the series of Collared Kingfisher here were taken
through stacked extenders! It can be done without losing out
too much on picture quality by stepping down the f stops.

Habitat : Mangroves, various coastal wetland habitats, gardens and
parks up to 1300m on migration.
