Thai Nights II: Sin City

This is a familiar scene in Thailand.
How ironic in this largely Buddhist country
where many people are still superstitious
about "sin" that the sex industry continues
to thrive, and is indeed, a huge part of
the Thai economy. Notice the look on these
ladies' faces, and body language; it is quite
obvious that they would not be doing this if
they had a choice.

Note: My uncle once told me to be careful when
one of these girls or "Nong-AIDS" (little sister AIDS)
tries to solicit you.

You get sick of the sight of it if truth be told. Many choose this way of life, many dont. Having lived here for the last four years and seeing so much of this all over Thailand it sadly alsmost becomes part of the background. It's all over Asia but Thailand is by far the worst.

80 % is HIV positive.
A brave man who makes use of the services offered ;-)
I'm not sure about the theory: if they had a choice, they wouldn't be doing this.
Why is it that e.g. in Holland there are over 100.000 "social workers",while there is work enough, and all have a choice.
The easy life ? The power over man, even if this is for a short while?
Who can tell. The faces look bored because there is not many clients around I guess.
Cheerio from Holland,...."H"
