Manisa 6150.jpg

We are here in the complex of the Ulu Cami or Great Mosque. It was built in 1366 by Işaq Bey, grandson of Saruhan. It is the oldest mosque in Manisa. It has a garden with a şadırvan (fountain for ritual ablutions) surrounded by columns (spolia: recycled from Roman buildings) in its front. To the right is a medrese, and there is the türbe (grave monument) of Işak Çelebi, his wife Gülgün Hatun and his two sons.

Having left the mosque, about to turn left, where these kids were coming from. There is a hamam there that I wanted to see.
