Goose in Stubble

Here the prairie marsh has been burned off, creating
the odd stubble surrounding this Canada Goose. The
burning discourages invasive plants and stimulates
the growth of native species. The geese prefer the
open sightlines of such areas. It's much harder for
foxes to sneak up on them in the open.

Good shot and lesson. They did that here and I was wondering why.

Not only informative, but a fascinating image to gaze upon. Beautiful work.

Yet the goose was not too disturbed by your approach. Nicely done. It looks as though Spring is a bit late in your area.
