Welcome to the club!
Great colours in this. About the composition,,, well, really I don't know what to say. In one hand, Marc is right, of course (the 1/3 composition rule and all that); but in another hand, there are so many great pictures that ignores these rules... This works well for me, and brings me in mind some scenes from Paul Gaugin, or another impressionist painters. endika

Nevermind, Jane. It's good to see some new faces everytime. Put some more, you can post up to three pics in each galleries. The more, the merrier. Did i say welcome ?

Thanks for your tips. I agree the composition is far from perfect, but I saw this challenge, saw the flower and had to take the pic and enter it. More effort on composition next time I promise! The blue in the background is actually another flower, Im not sure what it is, looks a little like forget-me-not except that rather than being a tall flower its a crawling one if that makes sense?

The colors are great (Isthat purple the sky? If so, I may have to move, since mostly we get gray.), but I agree, offsetting the flower would really help. Dunno if you have more in the original shot to allow for a different crop, but moving it lower left (or right) would help.

Not bad for a first effort ! I like the colours, but the comp doesn't do it for me, too centered. I've been following some of your threads on dpr, you're off to a good start anyway. You'll see, it's quite fun here. Oh, and welcome !

You sure got the theme right! Great red, green and love the purple in the background! I think for the short time you've had the camera you are off to a good start. Watch out the challenges are addicting and all critique is gentle and almost always when followed they were right! :o)
