This is now the Dane County Human Services Division...Some people say the building is haunted. At one time Tuberculosis (TB) was one of the leading fatal diseases in the U.S....it was thought that good treatment included sun and warmth and a good diet, and that cold and damp conditions were some of the causes. The father of country music "Jimmie Rodgers" (The singing brakeman) died at a very young age from it. It was a very serious disease...and people would just waste away as their lungs deteriorated. It is still a very menacing and deadly disease...and still one of the leading fatal diseases in many areas of the world, or in people with compromised immune systems, and can affect many areas of the body beside the lungs.
