Sitting At The Crossroad

Written By A Fellow Pbaser

Sitting at the crossroad, not a clue where to go,
I reach under the front seat trying to find a road map.
It’s as lost as me.
Only thing I know for certain is until I put my foot on the pedal,
I’m going nowhere better than here.

All my memories are behind, nothing but the unknown up ahead.
What if I turn left, what if I turn right,
Which is the right way to go?
Where the hell is the road map?
Please someone stop and tell me which way to go.

Like an answer to my prayer an old man approaches from behind,
Rolling down my window I say “Mister will you help me”?
I’m trying to find my way and I don’t know which way to go.
My memories are behind me and life is standing still,
The futures out there somewhere but I don’t know where to go.

He looked at me and said, every road leads to the future, there’s no best road to take.
It’s all about the journey and how you want to go.
To the left is the road to adventure, it’s a bumpy but rewarding path.
To the right the road to complacency, a smooth but boring drive.
Straight ahead you’ll find more of what's behind you, a road you already know.

Sitting at the crossroad, not a clue where to go,
I reach under the front seat trying to find a road map.
It’s as lost as me.
Only thing I know for certain is until I put my foot on the pedal,
I’m going nowhere better than here.

Personally...I think I'll take that road to the left and try
to avoid those nasty bumps if possible.
The potholes too!

Very nice addition to the poetry gallery.
