These wonderful wee shy birds are notorious for running around in the garden and digging up bugs. If you see a leaf being tossed around, there's a good chance this guy is doing the tossing. I've seen solitary thrushes in the spring, but then in the fall I've seen pairs, who will stay a few days before heading south. Watch him pump his tail up and then slowly lower it. He has a lovely white ring around his eye and a reddish tail.
We have to be careful when we walk up the path .. if we're in a hurry, we could startle him and that's usually when window strikes occur. We've rescued this species several times in the past.
