Henry J was the small car built by Kaiser in the early 1950's. Interestingly, it was the Independents who tried marketing smaller compact models in the Fifties. The only Fifties small car marketed with success was the Nash Rambler. Hudson also marketed a small Hudson called the "Jet". It was also a failure in the marketplace and when Nash & Hudson merged in 1954, the new American Motors pulled the plug on the "Jet". The Henry J pictured has been highly modified into a high horepower performance model. The small power plant that originally came with this car when it left the factory at Willow Run was less than 100 horsepower.
