Serious weather

Mt. St. Helens

The May 18 eruption created its own weather system. From the airplane we were in we could see high winds and lightning. I recently read comments by an Alaska vulcanologist about lightning in volcanic eruptions. He said it was possible that volcanic eruptions produce lightning....I immediately went through my eruption pictures looking for lightning, but didn't find any. But the lightning was there, and there was plenty of it.

Actually, what you meant to say was it looks like the beginning of the world! - James

Somewhere out there, there is a time lapsed image of a night time volcano eruption in Japan, I believe, there are lighting strikes everywhere, it looks like the end of the world.
