Yep. I agree with Gary (and I have my bird book right here!!) Trouble is .... most finches have a stripped pattern on breast/belly. But that beak is "stronger" than a sparrow ...... maybe a female of one of the buntings? Indigo, or Lazuli? ........... anyway, nice shot.
Since my bird book is 400 miles away, I'll have to make an uneducated guess. A finch (judging from the beak) or sparrow because it's small and brown 8^)
