View of Vilkija - small town north west of Kaunas. Although Vilkija exists at least since 14th century (it was first mentioned in 1364), the town never grew up too much, and currently there are only 2300 residents.
Most of the houses are located on the hill. The reason is nearby Nemunas river (not seen here, but it flows between the green field and the town). Floods happen almost every spring, so everything in the river valley can be flooded. The hill is much safer.
