06032007 where are all the trees, Dad?

Some people have been busy here. Lots of trampled and churned ground, broken bark, wood and twigs underfoot and everywhere the smell of freshly-chopped-down tree. There should be lots of local activity going on in this part of the forest at this time of year - the first wildflowers emerging, birds nesting, squirrels stirring, beetles and bugs coming out from hibernation under the leaf litter. Not this year. Everything is strangely silent this year.

Here's a more cheerful shot from today's walky for those who don't like sad pictures - http://www.pbase.com/poochdad/image/75293337

And here's a couple of shots of what the path looked like before the imbeciles in the local city council did their worst: http://www.pbase.com/poochdad/image/54364972 and http://www.pbase.com/poochdad/image/44292081

Oh dear, that would make me sad and mad to see too. Hopefully most of the wildflowers will come again but the trees are a different story. Poor squirrels and birds must be very confused.

What a terrible sight to see, mowing down these beautiful trees. Wonder where all the little animals birds & wildflowers are going to live now :(

Yes, I think imbeciles is the correct word. Government in general is full of imbeciles.

An all too common sight here in the USA as well. That's just one of the reasons we moved to a different part of the country, where nature is a little more appreciated. Sad.
