March 6, 2007 - Sentry

Cold this morning and going to continue to be cold today, with highs around 40. I went for my noon walk yesterday to try to get a shot of the American Kestral I've been seeing. Unfortunately, that didn't work out, but four American Crows were foraging on the river bank. Three of them were on the ground, and this one was on sentry in the tree. He cawed at me as soon as I was in sight, but surprisingly allowed me to get pretty close to him. Thus this offering.

Canon EOS 350D ,Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM
1/200s f/11.0 at 270.0mm iso200 full exif

I've never thought of taking pictures of crows that show up once in a while at my feeders. After seeing your shot here I'll now be reaching for my camera. Terrific image.
