Emerald Basilisk

Tortuguero, Costa Rica

We were travelling in a speed boat from Limon to Tortuguero in a narrow canal at about 15 knots. Suddenly our boat driver stopped the boat, reversed the engine and went back 25 meters up the canal. He had spotted this emerald basilisk sitting near the water. I have no idea how he could find the lizard at that speed (it took me another 15 seconds to see it even if it then only was a few meters away)! And no, it wasn´t dead...
