The lighting is really cool in this Alistair. It seems more like firelight (perhaps because it is being fired from so low?). The youngest almost seems to be levitating to get as high as he can. The light in the setting sung just caps it off. Very nicely done.

Thanks All! Rick, I used an off-camera flash triggered with a radio gizmo (I'm a follower of the Strobist blog!).

The balance of light between your subjects and background really add to this. I noticed in the exif that no flash was used is this correct? and if so what did you use to light them? I am guessing if not on-board flash then car headlights perhaps?

Man I love this. What great spirit and energy those kids have. I have wanted to do some stuff like this. Thanks for the inspiration Al. You and Woody are bound to have overly creative kids. ;-)

What fun! It looks like a camping trip. The boys are both so sweet (don't tell them I said that, they will never let you take another shot until they are 15 when it is good to look sweet again). I love the way the fill flash (guessing) brightened up their faces like a campfire light or Colman Lantern.
