These were our last target birds of the trip, on our last day of birding. The Blood-eared Parakeet is endemic to the coastal cordillera of central Venezuela, and quite local. We found these birds, sitting by the road, in the cloud forest of Avila National Park.
When 1st seen, the clouds were too thick to even ID the birds past Parakeet, though we knew what they had to be. The light was terrible, but the small red ear patch is just visible on the preening bird, as are the blue primaries.
