Sawtooth Peak over Morris Lake

Trinity Alps Wilderness

Morris Lake is one of the nicest remote offtrail alpine lakes in the Trinity Alps. It is a short distance, and above Smith Lake. I tried to climb Sawtooth from the left side in 1989, but didn't make it. I tried from the east in 1996, with no luck. I still haven't climbed it.

My name is james mitchell i did wilderness patrol for 2 years and have hiked these mountains from my home in weaverville all my life any way ment a father son groop i had seen up canyon creek in the winter walking around, you know bolder creek lakes one time and tomson peak another... crazy! any way i saw these two at smith one summer day only time i ever saw them in the summer. and they had just came down from saw tooth mt. they said no ropes were needed on the devils canyon side. how ever the kid said "it was narly" this is the same guy who told me tomson wasn't that bad that previous winter.
