FIRST SHOT: _MG_0001.jpg

Rancho Bernardo, CA

Last week before touring Torrey Pines State Reserve with Herb and Lynn, I almost purchased a Canon EF 400mm f5.6 L lens but didn’t. When I told Herb the story he scoffed and said (rightly so) that I already have too many lenses many of which I don’t use.

He suggested that my money would be better spent on getting a Canon Digital Rebel XTi (EOS 400D) to replace my aging 20D.

Definitly won't collect dust in your capable hands Robin. Great choice!

'aging' 20d? I have had mine since early October 2004, and would not say it is aging. almost 21,000 shots on it, and I still love it. You GAVE it away!!?? I'd have taken it off your hands..... the 5D is a bit too heavy for me to consider..

As a proud owner of a 20D with the second replaced shutter assembly, I can not recall telling you to replace the ageing 20D. That said, you will enjoy the XTI, it is a great value for the money. I love that camera.

Oh boy Robin "new toy new challenges" that is what makes it fun.

I'm with Karen. My 20D goes everywhere with me. 5D is kept for studio work so far. Been afraid to take it outdoors.

oh man what am I missing??? I'd have separation anxiety giving up my 20d!

Congratulations on the new toy, Robin. I've heard that this is a great camera.

@Bob.... I gave my 20D to fellow pbase krippy, will keep the 5D and the small Canon point and shoot. NO plans to buy that 400mm lens now ;-)
Bob Foisel06-Feb-2007 20:48
So now you'll have 3 digital cameras? They are getting to be like your lenses. But now if you get the 400F5.6L it will act like a 640mm but you'll have 10mpix worth of cropping.
Enjoy

Once again great minds think alike... My rebel XT (I decided not to spring for the 300+ dollars to get the letter "i") arrived on saturday.

i object, my canon 20D hardly fits in the old age pensioner category! LOL. Have fun with your new toy, congratulations.
