Didn't get around to commenting earlier, but like this crop much better for the topic Rod. Very nice work.

Thanks Sue Anne:-)

Wow Rod,
the crop emphasizes the father's hand - very beautifully done :)

Thanks Girls & Doug:-) Credit will have to go to the girls & in particular Carole who nagged me until I got it right:-)

Perfect. What makes it perfect to me is the firm hand that doesn't want to let his daughter go, the tight squeeze against his body that shows how proud he is, and how her head is held with her cheek close to him showing her love. This picture is simply perfect Rod. -COAmature

This is fantastic Rod! Great work!

We will be calling you the new crop queen at this rate Carole:-)
I've done the crop as per your suggestions & if this doesn't win the challenge you will be hearing from me lawyers:-)
Thanks for helping Carole:-)

I think this does work better for the challenge Rod and if you wanted to crop the bottom to bring the hand into even more prominance, I think that would work too. This really speaks to me of fatherly love with this kind of a crop. It's a wonderful picture. CJ

Thanks again girls:-) I have done a crop & I think it works a lot better. It was hard to know where to crop on the face but I have another week to get it right:-)

Rod, I have thought about this shot a lot. I think that it's on topic. Though we occassionally look at her face (we just do that, we're humans and she's very pretty) the focus, and focal point, is clearly on the hand.

I also think a crop would work for this shot... Just a thought.

I don't have any problem with it staying.
ctfchallenge05-Feb-2007 16:13
Rod, I actually think this is a very nice story-telling picture - did you try a crop to emphasize the hand? CJ
Rod 05-Feb-2007 09:13
Thanks Girls:-) Yes this attempt was a bit desperate as I intended to get some body part shots at the wedding but with all the hassles I had with the flash I just didn't settle down to picy taking. Even the official photographers didn't us their flashes so why I did is beyond me. I also cheated with this shot & blurred the face, I know I know I'm really naughty a:-) This will grace pending as soon as I get creative & throw the flash in the bin:-) .................Or learn to use it properly:-)

BUT... if the host wants a good in focus body part to portray...then I'd say this is on topic. Well done :) jano

I like what you shot Rod. But besides the hand, I am looking to the bride too. ;)
ctfchallenge05-Feb-2007 01:55
I can see what you're trying to portray here Rod, but there are other body shots in the picy. With that said... wow... what a wonderful capture. I'm hoping you blurred this shot slightly on the bride's face as it will make a wonderful wedding pic!!! jano

The bride is absolutely beautiful, but I think there are just too many body parts to be taken in consideration here, even if the main subject is the hand
ctfchallenge04-Feb-2007 17:09
Rod, I agree with CJ. It's an absolutely wonderful shot, but it doesn't seem to meet Christina's guidelines. BTW if this is an example of your wedding photos, you're making some people very happy with them.

Lovely! I know the focus is on the hand but my eyes are drawn to her face. For this challenge did you think about cropping to just above her lip or nose so the focus would be forced to the hand or does that look too awkward? Or maybe cropping up from the bottom to just below his sleeve to place the hand on a lower thirds line with the arm coming up diagonally from the corner. Just some rambling thoughts! What a beautiful bride and a picture she will treasure! CJ
