| The nut encased in this bristly seed pod heats up quickly with friction. Kids apparently like to rub the nut rapidly on their shirts or pants, then touch it to another kid's naked arm or neck, for the sport of it. The nuts are also used as jewelry. Here's more about the nickernut.
