A Scene That No Longer Exists

Bucktown, Louisiana

I took this one year ago today (I have not time to get a PaD today). Quite a few marriage proposals took place on the bridge through the years.
The bridge and the fishermen's docks no longer exist. The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers has taken over this property.

A sad story, guess that's 'progress' - but lucky you having all those marriage proposals on the same spot! Think of all those disappointed guys!! lol

Fortunately it still exists in your picture. I love all those spots of color on this fine day.

And, most of what we see in this image is the livelihood of many people that no longer exists. Thanks for sharing. Monte

What a shame to have lost such beauty as this. You have done a wonderful job at capturing this moment in time!

Sorry to hear of the loss but of course now it can never be fully lost because of this fine photograph! Thanks! V

Ditto to what Robin said. My first thought was the water and sky are trying to outdo each other in blue....then I read your comment and it made me sad.

How sad.

Another landmark lost as the result of HK...sad for you.

It is really sad that some places are no more. Especially, because you took images before and then the after. Just sad.

I bet it doesn't look as good now :-(
