During the Great Depression of the 1930s, the WPA,
or Work Progress Administration was set up to put
people back to work. This Eagle Memorial was the
work of one man supported by WPA funds to make a
memorial for Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

The dry laid stone construction of the memorial
requires a great deal of skill.
