Layered Aromatherapy*
by Denise

Monterey, California

This beautiful and colorful eucalyptus tree trunk caught my eye.
The tree was quite large and this was only a very small portion of the trunk.

I like the shadings and colors, and would leave them as natural as possible.

I want to thank everyone for their feedback on this pic and the one in the demo gallery. I, too, much prefer this image because this is how the trunk of the tree looked. The wonderful layers and different colors are what caught my eye. The dialog and comments are what make these challenges priceless for me!!!!!!

Very pretty tree trunk - I love the colors and textures! I also like this version much better than the one in the demo folder - in this one the colors look surprisingly good, in the other one they look fake.

Very nice find, Denise. Good lighting... nice, natural-looking colors... and lovely textures.

Lovely shot. I wouldn't change a thing. This is the way it was and this is the way it should be shown. These trees abound in my part of the country and I'm jealous I didn't see this first. Well done.

That is really an unusual tree trunk Denise and you did a nice job of capturing the colorful layers of the wood. * I'm not sure you really need to do any post processing on this image; just a personal preference of course but the colors look just fine to me. If anything, I'd probably try sharpening the image a little in an effort to bring out the texture of the wood more. Wonderful entry in any case!

I agree with the relaxation notation of the title. This image exudes peacefulness. The layers of smooth, warm, pleasing tones really cause the photo to "melt" into one big relaxing image. Nicely done. tcoen

Thanks Frank. My 4 year old granddaughter said "Nonna, wood? How boring." I will put a "popped" version in the Demo Gallery whenever it lets me upload!!

You can see the entire trunk here:http://www.pbase.com/image/73770783

Great find for the theme! I love the tilted composition and the detailed structure. Maybe you can try to enhance the colors/contrast a little more. I know that I would overdo it immediately ;-) Cheers, Frank
