Eastern Point
by Jerry Curtis

This is one B-I-G piece of rock! The trees on the top are probably 5-15 feet tall, and the barely-discernable tiny specks on the top-most rock protrusion are seagulls.

Beautiful image - I love the detailed layers in the big rock, and the color of the water!

Such an interesting image Jerry. I enjoyed the rest but like this one the best, you really captured the layers beautifully.

Thanks, Bev. Yes, that tunnel goes all the way through. This was the best shot I could get which showed the reflected light fron the other side. Amazing what the sea can do to solid rock like this, huh?

Nice capture of this great rock, Jerry. Enjoyed your links to additional pictures, too. The many layers and the size are amazing! Is that a passageway through to the other side? Bev

Jerry, this rock is amazing. All those yearx of the sea and wind carving away at the rock to expose layer after layer of earth. Wonderful image for this Challenge.

Jerry: too bad about your uploading difficulties. I would lend a hand, but I am new to pbase and don't really know how to do much at all. I believe my comment was that you had done an excellent job capturing the details in the layers. Also, I have some crazy urge to be on top of there, especially since there is no obvious way up. tcoen

Thanks Gaurav. I tried all you suggested before deleting the original and starting over, but nothing worked. Re-uploading the file over the old one had no effect whatsoever.

hi Jerry - it does disappear sometimes when I look at it but it always comes back when i refresh the page... another thing you might want to try is to go into edit image and re-upload the picture - that option is at the bottom of the page - it will allow you to restore the picture without losing the comments ~ g - PS - nice picture :)

I can't believe this is the second time I've had to re-upload this picture. The link between the thumb and the file in PBase somehow keeps getting lost.

Here are the comments to date - except tcoen's initial comment, which was lost:

Well composed shot Jerry. I find the many layers that form this rock very interesting. I like the greenish reflections in the foreground water and I think the trees on top add much interest to the image as well. Nice find and very nicely captured!

Thanks, jp. I don't have a lot of shots of this from different angles, because the whole area is very dangerous due to crumbling shale cliffs. As a matter of fact, I was in the roped-off danger area taking this one. Here are a couple more of the area:

That is some wondrous rock, Jerry. I would love to see a series on it. Please send me a link if & when you have one.
