Eagle Talons

Both the American Bald Eagle and the Golden Eagle have feet comprised of four muscular toes (3 in front and one rear "thumb"). The muscular toes have sharp claws called Talons that can break through fish or animal skin. These talons also enable an Eagle to hold prey tight while carrying it through the air. . One noticeable difference between a Bald Eagle and a Golden Eagle is that the Bald Eagle's feathers (adult and juvenile) do not go all the way down the leg.
