We went up the Apache trail into the Superstition mountains. The Blue-bird mine is located at about mile-marker 200. A boom town, Goldfield, grew up there in 1890 when gold was discovered. By 1915 the gold played out and Goldfield became a ghost town. The sign says that over $4,000,000 in gold was taken out.
