I have a 1862 Springfield rifle but it is NOT the military version. The barrel and overall lenght is the same and it has the eagle crest on the receiver, however, it has a double finger brass trigger guard, a double set trigger - aft one sets the forward one -, brass butt plate, fixed sight, no barrel bands or sling swivels, and wooden ramrod. It has been passed down in my family but I know nothing about the rifle. I would very much appreciate any information as it appears to be rare since I cannot find any reference as to its origin. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
