I think the shallow DOF works well here as it really acentuates the snow covered rock as the focus of the picture and not the background or the rock(?) in front. Interesting lens - lets see more examples! CJ

I would do the same Alexeig all my shots this week have been with the flash on:-)

May thanks for comments, everybody.
Rod, I am playing with my new toy here. Dont spoil the fun :-)
Jano: thanks for noticing, I shall rotate it a bit
RK: This is the extreme upward tilt here which actually results in a focusing plane going through the stone AND just a few inches above the camera. This results in such a narrow DOF which otherwise would not be attainable with 24mm wide lens

I like the shallow DOF here...draws my attention directly to the center. Now...did you tilt or shift? - RK

Wonderful! I think the dof works especially well here and sets my eye right to the center. I think it could use a very slight tilt to the left. The color management here is excellent as well as the sense of movement of the water. jano

I'm having real problems with this Alexeig, it's definitely a centre weighted shot but I think the small DOF in this landscape type shot is what's bothering me. It might work better if there was some definable interest in & around the rock but with the narrow DOF I feel denied of something to look at:-)

Nice one, Alexeig. The limited DOF works especially well here.
