Comet McNaught, as seen from the Kalmbach Publishing Co. parking lot on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, only minutes after sunset. The comet was seen naked eye by myself and four editors from Astronomy magazine. Temperatures were in the mid-20s, but a 20mph wind from the north made conditions unbearably cold. The photo is a cropped frame from a Nikon D80, a 300mm lens set at f/4 and at 1/40 sec, ISO 400. I'm not sure if I'll ever again be able to image a comet at 1/40 of a second.
