Thanks Brent,
He is a difficult subject to photograph at close range. He is always so concerned about getting caught that almost all close up shots would as he is moving away. It is also a rarity that the humidity and temperature meet the conditions to create the frost on him. If I wasn't so lazy, today presented a unique opportunity. The sun shining on the snow on his back caused steam to rise from there and at the same time the temperature was cold enough that his breath looked like smoke coming from his nostrils. Unfortunately, I am lazy and any attempt by me to get in position to capture the shot would also have put an end to the pose. Oh well.

This is very cool, Bob. Since he is calm around you - shots around the eyes and nose might be interesting with all that frost - a little backlighting to hilite the frost? It just looks so interesting!

Thanks Shirley,
Actually, he has a place where he can get inside for protection but he prefers to be out. We have a few inches of snow left from the last storm and today is a bitter freezing wind. There have been plenty of 0°F nights and sub 10°F days already.

Brrrr is right! I guess those horses there in Wyoming don't need sissy blankets like most horses? ;o) Actually it does make me want to take him and get him inside and warmed up. I saw this was taken last winter. How's it been there this winter? So far we haven't had any snow to speak of (1 1/2" is all and it is melted away).
