Thinking of both the photograph and the moment, this picture earned an entry for my 2006 best. Whether a sailor or not, it's easy to appreciate the beauty, grace, and power of these 12-Metre America's Cup yachts. In an increasingly mechanized and polluted world, it is a privelege to watch two vessels such as these battling eachother using nothing more than wit, wind, muscle, and sea - tacking to capture the wind, heeled over, vying for right of way at the marker, before turning before the wind and hoisting the spinnaker for the fast run back.
On a technical note: taken with the H5 and the DH1758 teleextender at 12x, handheld.
