This is a candlelight salad. It has been a part of Christmas Eve
dinner for my wife for as long as she can remember. Her mother
and grandmother both made it but only on Christmas Eve.
The banana represents the candle, the cherry is the flame, the dressing
is the melted wax, and the pineapple ring is the candle holder.

For the girls (who are both adults), it would not be Christmas Eve dinner
without it. They both get a huge laugh from the imagery it conjures up in
their mind's eye. Do you see what they see?
