Day 7 G 6850' 29Aug1987. Click to read Forest Gan's report.

Wake to a chilled morning. Soon the sun rays penetrated the forest canopy. Break camp at 9am. We were at 4900' elevation. Being at the base of G6850, got to scale some 2000'up its steep south-west face. Our route uphill due west. The going was back breaking from our heavy haversack in consenance to the pull of gravity. At a juncture up ahead we encountered huge boulders around which we skirted before striking uphill again. We crawled through tunnels brought us tp 6300 at the edge of a landslide cliff. It was 1.30pm and we stopped for lunch. To our joy, due north lies the elusive G6850.
After lunch and a long rest, we set off due north into mossy forest yet again. A series of pulls and intervening flats brought us to the summit at4.30pm, heaving and gasping for breath. The summit capped by the fine bamboo Bambusa Elegang. We ascended the hard way, up it's steep southwest face. We were visibly happy. Looking down below we could traced the break-off we had missed the other day.Fine weather greeted us on arrival ans vista, panoromic views. We were exhilarated and intoxicated by the beauty. G. 6850 is the cornerstone of our traverse and we were glad to made it. The trail onwards turned westerly leaving the Kelantan and Perak divide which we had followed since the peak G.5911.
The peak offer a good view of the ridges and mountains we had traversed, an impressive sight of up and down as far as the eyes can see, to the SW, the precipitous western face of G. Yong Blar distinguishable. When we were at the other end looking ahead, we wondered whether we can make it; now we wonder how we did it. Truly a feat!
