We were rewarded with a magnificent views just beyond words to describe. Seeing is believing. On the distant east the majestic pyramid of G Yong Yap(7113) dominated the landscape. On the north- westerly front, G 6850, G. Gayong(7129) and G. Korbu(7162) loomed high ahead, where and up we were to go.We took the opportunity to dry our clothing and things. Overlooking the trail ahead, we discussed our routes to be, a few amongst us sceptical of our chances.
We left at 10am, we descended due noth- east then north, west down a steep descent to a low spot of 6000'. Water can be had some 800' down; a small stream that trickles from the gully beside the trail. The western precipitous, steep rock face visibly seen thru the foliage along the trail. We slash thick undergrowths and rattan thickets. Mountain Aeschynanthus(Lipstick Plants) grows epiphytic high up tree branches. We stumbled upon the rare Crytestylis orchids, also herb plants Didymocarpus. A sharp steep ascent had us on the summit 6400 at 4.30pm. We rested and had snacks. We descended another 200' and another hour trek before setting up tents on a level groun along the trail. Under the forest canopy, darkness soon enveloped us. We fell short of our targeted campsite. It did not bother us nor the other mistakes ahead as the team is too seasoned to take notice as we took them all in our strides.
