Morning dawned to a fine day. Cooked and packed our lunches and dinner and filled our water containers to the brim. Water is a precious commodity up here along the long , dry high ridges. Off we went at 10am tackling G. Yong Blar(7156) by it's south-eastern shoulder. We cut back uphill west and north to regain the sharp summit ridge. the trails onward in north-easterly direction needing much slashing. Further on we headed N then W reaching a knoll at noon. We stopped for a much needed rest and lunch.
Suddenly heavy rain poured on us, cold and wet, shivering we prodded due notherly up the remaining of the ridge up a series of sharp climbs. The path progresses up on hands and knees at time flat on the stomach.
Reached summit of G. Yong Blar- 3rd highest mt in Peninsula. Hurriedly setup tents in the rain and chilly wind. Due to our heavy load, we took 8 hrs to reached. Soon after the rain stopped, we ate dinner. Our hearts cried out to the majestic panoramic views. Nature at it's best, a sight to behold. The sunset was dramatic, we gazed, intoxicated, till it's last streak of rays.
The vegetation traversed so far was initially upper montane oak forest along ridge with frequent open plateau dominated by ferns Gleichenia, Dipteris Conjugata, Matonia Pectinata, Eugenia, Vaccianius, Glauteria Leucocarpa(Malayan Wintergreen) Didymocarpus, Nepenthes, Rhododendrons - Rh. Wrayii, Rh. Robinconni, Rh. Spatulatum, Rh. Malayanus, Rh. Pauciflorum, Bambussa Wrayii and other herbacceous plants.
