van den Bergh 142 - The Elephant Trunk Nebula. This nebula is very faint. Shot using a Meade LX200 10" @ f/7.15 using a SBIG ST-2000XM with SBIG AO7 unit. 60 minutes (12 x 5 minutes) luminance at 1x1 binned. Image scale is .85 arcseconds per pixel. Acquired using CCDOps. Aligned and combined in CCDSoft 5. Dark and light frames applied. DDP applied in AstroArt 2.0. Guided by the SBIG AO7. Transparency was average to poor. Seeing was poor due to the high day time temps. Moon at 77% of illumination. Reprocessed 12/17/06 to smooth out some of the noise.
