It was a dingy, gray lighted, november day. I was out trying to take pictures with my brand new camera, caught up in the possibilities of this tool. These leaves looked so ordinary, but somehow I was compelled to take the picture. Besides, it was digital and I needed images to look at to check out my new equipment. Later, when I looked at the final image, there was this glowing light on top of the leaves. They were top lit and glowing a burnt orangish brown out the bottom. The misty november rain was dripping off and counterpointed the dullness of the light. I love this image because it is such a mundane subject, and so evocative of nature's gifts.
