12/8/06 - Butterfly Triptych

The Meadowlark Botanical Gardens Annual Nature Photography Exhibit is coming up soon. It's a juried show with the exception of the People's Choice themed competition where this year the theme is butterflies. Each of the six member clubs that participate in the show may submit one entry for this themed competition. Each club's entry is chosen by the club, not the panel of jurors. Visitors to the exhibit - a few thousand last year - each get to cast a vote and the winner is the "People's Choice". The first challenge is to be chosen by your club. When I tried two year's ago in a Great Blue Heron theme the eventual winner was from our club (at least I got beat by a great image). I decided to try again since I have lots of butterfly images.
In order to stand apart from the competition, I've decided to go with a triptych. This is how it will look when presented - 20"x12" with a 2" white mat border on all four sides. (White mats, maximum length of 20" and borders of at least 2" - no triple mats, no floating borders, just plain vanilla - are the exhibit rules for entries). I tried flipping each of the top & bottom images playing with balance of the overall image. I'm torn between this one and one - http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/71378283 - where the bottom image is flipped horizontally - probably straining at gnats here. Any graphics designers out there with words of wisdom?
